Lake Tahoe Sunset Light Wedding Portrait

Lake Tahoe Sunset Light Wedding Portrait

Lake Tahoe is known for it's incredible sunsets. The reality is that at 6,224 feet in elevation with literally no humidity, the sunset is pretty much the only time the light gets "beautiful." We always say that it's nuclear light most of the day, which means it is just BRIGHT and contrasty. Therefore, we always ask our couples to make a little time to take a walk with us around the sunset time if they want to take couple's portraits. However, we are always keeping our eyes on the light and the opportunities that present themselves.

This photograph was made in about 30 seconds as Amita and Sagar were walking from their cocktail hour on the Cottage Green at the Hyatt in Lake Tahoe to the reception space. Matt saw the light and just asked them to take a moment to look into each other's eyes before they went to the amazing dance party that was to follow. We feel it's important for us to not be intrusive and let the day unfold naturally. This is why this couple hired us, they wanted complete documentary coverage and a "portrait or two if we have time." They loved this photograph and it holds a special memory for them, a quiet space in the golden Sierra light after their ceremony.

As usual, Lindsay from Cloud Nine Event Company knocked it out of the park!
